Republic Day 2024:?Every year, Republic Day is celebrated in India on?January 26?with great grandeur and pride. It is a day dedicated to paying tribute to the Constitution of Independent India, which was formulated by the drafting committee overseen by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.?It marks the day when the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, following India's independence.
In 2024, the 75th Republic Day parade is slated to take place which will welcome French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.
The full rehearsal is scheduled to begin at 10.30 am today from Vijay Chowk and pass via Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhas Marg before culminating at the Red Fort, the Delhi Police said.

Delhi Police Traffic Advisory Republic Day Parade 2024
The Delhi Police and Gurugram Police have issued traffic advisories for the Republic Day celebration on January 26.
- As per the Delhi Traffic Police advisory, the Republic Day parade is scheduled to commence at 10:30 am from Vijay Chowk and progress towards the Red Fort grounds. Simultaneously, a related event at the National War Memorial near India Gate is planned for 9:30 am.
- Extensive traffic arrangements and restrictions will be in place along the parade route, passing through Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Subhas Chandra Bose roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg, and Red Fort, according to the advisory.
- The police are urging people to utilise public transport to reach Kartavya Path. Commuters can follow the route from Madarsa, Lodhi Road T-point through Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road-Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, and Shankar Road to reach Mandir Marg, as suggested by the advisory.
Specific traffic restrictions include:
- No traffic movement on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Wednesday until the parade concludes.
- No cross-traffic is allowed on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road from 10 pm on Wednesday until the end of the parade.
- C-Hexagon to India Gate will be closed for traffic from 9:15 am on Thursday until the parade crosses Tilak Marg.
- Traffic restrictions on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg from 10:30 am on Thursday.
- Cross-traffic is allowed based on the parade movement.
Alternative routes suggested for commuters, such as the route from Madarsa, Lodhi Road T-point via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road-Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, and Shankar Road to reach Mandir Marg.
Additionally, the advisory prohibits the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms in Delhi until February 15. Commuters traveling to New Delhi railway station from south Delhi and other areas are advised to follow specified routes. Inter-state buses and heavy transport vehicles have specific entry and movement restrictions during the specified period. The public is encouraged to use public transport to reach Kartavya Path.
Gurugram Republic Day 2024 traffic advisory
For Gurugram, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic, Virender Vij, issued essential directives to zonal officers, traffic inspectors, and traffic police station in-charges on Wednesday. The advisory stated that from 5 pm on January 25 until 1.30 pm on January 26, medium and heavy goods vehicles will be restricted from entering Gurugram and Delhi.
Heavy vehicles approaching from the Jaipur side on NH-48 will be redirected at Pachgaon on the Kundli¨CManesar¨CPalwal Expressway (KMP) to facilitate smooth traffic and minimise disruptions. Local heavy vehicles in Gurugram will follow alternative routes at key points, including Kherki Toll, Rajiv Chowk, Iffco Chowk, and Shankar Chowk.
Republic Day events in Gurugram will undergo surveillance through drones, ensuring heightened security. Drone monitoring and additional patrolling have been implemented for security measures, with arrangements made to maintain law and order, as stated by a senior police officer.
According to PTI, Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that Section 144 of the CrPC has been enforced in the city. During this period, a comprehensive prohibition on the use of drones, aircraft, gliders, air balloons, kites, and microlights in Gurugram has been imposed until January 26.
¡°The Republic Day programmes will be organised at five places this year, including Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurugram Martyr and Freedom Fighter Memorial Stadium Nakhdola, Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Pataudi, Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Sushant Lok, and Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sohna,¡± Boken said.
¡°To ensure security at all these venues, the police are also making the security arrangements more effective through videography and photography using drones,¡± he added.
Noida Republic Day 2024 Parade traffic advisory
The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have issued a traffic advisory, alerting commuters to possible diversions on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway briefly on January 25.
However, emergency vehicles will be exempted from any diversions, the police stated. The traffic police have recommended alternative routes for commuters, including those heading to Delhi, as the diversion is planned due to an event in the adjoining Bulandshahr district.
- According to officials, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Bulandshahr on January 25 for a BJP programme, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also in attendance, along with a host of state ministers and party leaders.
- ¡°The general public is informed that on Thursday (January 25), the tour program of a very distinguished dignitary is proposed in Bulandshahr district. In view of this, in case of any emergency in Commissionerate Gautam Buddh Nagar, traffic could be diverted on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway for a short time,¡± the police said in an advisory.
- Emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass safely during traffic diversion, the police said and urged commuters to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
- According to the Thursday diversion plan, the traffic going from Chilla Red Light towards Greater Noida via the expressway will be diverted from Sector 14A flyover towards Sector 15 roundabout, and it will be able to go towards the destination via DSC route.
- The traffic going from DND towards Greater Noida via the expressway will be diverted towards Rajnigandha Chowk in Sector 16. This traffic will be able to go towards the destination via MP-01 route and DSC route, the advisory stated.
- Similarly, the traffic going from Kalindi border towards Greater Noida via the expressway will be diverted towards Sector 37 from Mahamaya flyover. This traffic will be able to go towards the destination via MP-03 route and DSC route, it added.
- The traffic going from Sector 37 via the expressway towards Greater Noida will be diverted to the double service road from Sector 44 roundabout. This traffic will be able to reach its destination via DSC route via double service road, it said.
- Those going from Greater Noida towards Noida via the expressway will be diverted from Charkha roundabout towards Sector 94. This traffic will be able to reach its destination via Mahamaya flyover via Sector 37.
- For commuters going from Kalindi Border to Dalit Prerna Sthal Parking Tiraha towards DND/Chilla, there will be a diversion towards Sector 37 from Mahamaya Flyover. This traffic will be able to reach the destination via DSC route, MP-03 route from Sector 37.
- The traffic going from GIP Mall towards DND via Filmcity flyover will be diverted by U-turn below the Filmcity flyover. This traffic will be able to go towards the destination through the DSC route and elevated route, according to the advisory. Those going towards Delhi via DND flyover from the Rajnigandha side will be diverted from Rajnigandha Chowk. This traffic will be able to go towards the destination from New Ashok Nagar border via DSC route, it stated.
- Similarly, traffic going towards Delhi via Sector 14A flyover from Golchakkar Chowk Sector 15 will be diverted from Golchakkar Chowk. This traffic will be able to go towards the destination from New Ashok Nagar border via DSC route, it added.
- In Greater Noida, the traffic going from Zero Point via Yamuna Expressway will be diverted towards Pari Chowk. This traffic will be able to reach the destination via Kasna town, Sirsa, Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
- The traffic coming from Agra towards Noida will be able to get down towards Jewar town ahead of Jewar toll plaza and go towards the destination via Sabauta underpass via Khurja bypass via Jahangirpur, the advisory stated.
- Also, those going from Pari Chowk towards Noida via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be diverted from Pari Chowk towards Sujpur. This traffic will be able to reach its destination from Surajpur via Greater Noida West, it added.
- ¡°The diversion on the two key expressways could be made only in case that is required. The diversions have been announced to make sure commuters opt for alternative routes and any inconvenience to them is avoided, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav told the news agency PTI.
