Pizza is pretty much the one food everyone likes across the world. Sure, we do make pizzas at home and they are good but the sight of seeing a delivery boy with your box of pizza gives us another kind of happiness.?
But have you ever wondered why your round pizza comes in a square box? Well, sure when your scrumptious pizza comes home thinking about the box is the least of your concerns but it is something to think about, right?
A square box is much easier and cheaper to make as opposed to a round box. Even if you look at it logistically, square boxes are much better. A circular box can¡¯t easily be made out of one sheet of cardboard as the round edges cause problems. So this means it needs multiple pieces of cardboard, joining pieces, or more advanced production. So all in all, it just means more production cost.?
Square boxes are made up of one piece of cardboard, and this is flattened when it is not in use ¨C i.e. being transported or stored. When unfolded pizza boxes are stacked together it takes much less space and it is much easier to ship. This is not possible with a? round box.
Also, the cost to retool the machines would be cost-prohibitive for pizza restaurants. It¡¯s all about overhead and keeping costs down as much as possible. There¡¯s no reason to have such an expensive box for the carrying of the pizza.
If you think about it in a simple way, right angles simply make shipping and storage easier. Everything is basically stored in rectangular or square boxes for the same reason. It is universal.?
Having a square box will just mean that the edges won't let the materials drip from the sides and keep things intact in our favourite pizza. Having a square box for a round pizza is a good idea for helping to get the pizza to its destination in one piece.??
And here's something you didn't know - When the pizza was first invented in Italy, its first version was made in a square shape. So, probably the boxes have something to do with that as well.?
So, is it just us or someone feels like eating a pizza??
