Hyundai India Couture Day 2 ended with ace couturier Sunnet Varma's dazzling collection.?The designer focuses on India's ongoing love of couture, emphasizing the joy and richness of bespoke craftsmanship, the mesmerizing allure of delicately decorated bridal clothing, and the brilliance of individualized jewellery designed to suit each ensemble.
The collection was inspired by Sunnet Varma's muse -his mother, a writer and poet. The presentation started with his mother reciting a Nazm, which was also the title of the collection. The show transported the audience into a bygone era with classic and evergreen songs.?
The collection is inspired by India's rich ornamental arts, reinventing ancient themes and embroidery techniques with a contemporary twist for the modern Indian woman. Celebrating women's confidence and adventurous attitude, the collection combines romance and femininity with opulent fabrics such as metallic tissue, pastel organza, and flowing chiffons that elegantly drape the body.
Known for his statement blouses, the collection featured myriad varieties of cuts and styles of blouses. The designer said, "I treat a saree and blouse very differently. The blouse should be about empowerment, a blouse empowers the woman, how much she wants to show or cover."?
The collected used fabrics such as silk tulle and georgette. The fabrics according to the designer are hard to make and hard to fit, which is something he loves.?
Staying true to his love for blouses, the designer introduced a naked illusion beaded blouse.?Intricate gold and silver three-dimensional needlework with abstract floral patterns lends a mysterious element to the designs.
