World No Tobacco Day or Anti Tobacco Day is observed on 31 May across the world, every year. This day is observed by WHO- World Health Organisation to make people aware and educate them about the ill effects of tobacco on health. Tobacco severely affects and causes disease like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, tooth decay, staining on the teeth and more.
Tobacco is considered as an agricultural crop which can be seen growing at a lot of places across the world. It is also said that tobacco is a nervous stimulant that triggers complex biochemical disruptions. The leaves contain high levels of the addictive compound, if consumed causes harmful effects on health and causes adverse effects.?
People consume tobacco leaves through cigarettes, cigars and pipes or applied to the gums while chewing tobacco and inhaling as snuff.?
The World Health Organisation - WHO has identified 31st May of each year as the World No Tobacco Day. The theme for this day is 2020 ¡°Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use¡±.
This day encourages health safety and also the risks associated with the use of tobacco and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumptions.?
A lot of campaigns and events are organised on this day to educate people about the dangers of tobacco and its adverse effects on health. We all might know that eating tobacco or other such things or products can give you a slight pleasure for sometime but it will take away life. Due to the coronavirus pandemic this year the activities will not happen.?
Expose the manipulation tactics which are employed by the tobacco industries. Specifically the marketing tactics targeting the youth which includes the products, flavours and other attributes of the product.?
Spread awareness to young people with knowledge about the tobacco and related industries intentions.?
Empower influencers to spread awareness on social media, in the home or in the classroom to protect and defend youth from using these products.?
