It all began because of a girl, who used to pull my leg and comment on my looks. She told me that I was very skinny and that affected me a lot. It was those comments that made me go to the gym and I¡¯ve been working out for nearly two decades. Fitness, to me, is very important. I think that people can easily spare one hour in the 24 hours they have daily for fitness. This is something that you do for yourself and not for anyone else. Being healthy is very important, which is something you realise only after a certain age. Fitness is an investment, which even money can¡¯t buy later on.
The number of fitness centres is increasing in the city. This means that people are interested in fitness, which is very heartening. Even though some people use the gym as an excuse to socialise, I¡¯m glad that they use that reason to enter the gym and keep themselves fit. Adopting fitness as a lifestyle choice is good for the society¡ªand Bengaluru has done that.?
People may find following one fitness regime boring. This is why there are new regimes and options, like functional training or Zumba. This has helped as people enjoy the variety. Personally, I enjoy functional training. I love to break my own intensive gym routines periodically to try some functional workouts to give my body some change. The different workout regimes that are now popular in the city also make exercising a lot more fun and not just a boring part of one¡¯s routine. The other thing about the city is that I see a lot of people utilising the green spaces, like Lalbagh, for instance. People haven¡¯t stopped going there, despite the mushrooming of gyms and other fitness centres across the city.
When it comes to eating healthy, my preference is always my mother¡¯s food. Parents know what is healthy and cook food the right way. When I do step out for a meal, I am very happy to see that Bengaluru has a lot of healthy eating options. From the Central Business District to Jayanagar, JP Nagar to Indiranagar, every area has caf¨¦s and restaurants that are tailored to suit the health-conscious Bengalurean. This is a good thing for even those who aren¡¯t looking at tailored menus specifically, as healthy food is no longer boring or uncool.
