Is a cancer vaccine finally here? In a groundbreaking discovery of the century, the Russian government has successfully developed its own cancer vaccine, reported the Russian news agency TASS.?
The vaccine is believed to be launched in early 2025. According to a report on TASS, the General Director of the Radiology Medical Research Centre of the Russian Ministry of Health, Andrey Kaprin, noted that Russia has developed its own mRNA vaccine against cancer, and it will be distributed for free to all.?
Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that they are very close to creating the so-called cancer vaccine and immunomodulatory medicines for a new generation.?
According to the Director of the Gamaleya National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Ginsburg told TASS that the pre-clinical trial of the vaccine is done, and it shows that the vaccine has the power to suppress the tumour development and its potential metastases.?
Apart from this, he also highlighted that the use of artificial intelligence neural networks could potentially bring down the computing that is required to create a personalised cancer vaccine.?
Currently, the process is quite lengthy, and with the help of artificial neural networks, it can be reduced to less than an hour. "Now it takes quite long to build [personalised vaccines] because computing how a vaccine, or customised mRNA, should look like uses matrix methods, in mathematical terms," said Russia¡¯s vaccine chief.
He further mentioned that they have involved the Ivannikov Institute, which will rely on AI to do this calculation, also called neural network computing, and this procedure should take about half an hour to one hour.?
A cancer vaccine is a type of immunotherapy that can help in treating cancer by training the immune system to identify and destroy the cancer cells.?
The vaccines for cancer teach the immune system to identify proteins that are unique to cancer cells or are present in higher levels in cancer cells. This helps the immune system to differentiate between the normal and cancer cells and attack the cancer cells.?
