Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made it possible for people to?quite literally?generate whatever images they?want,?by typing in just a few prompts. In recent years, AI image-generator tools have become so advanced?to the point?that they can create life-like pictures, which are often difficult for an untrained eye to distinguish.
This?has also resulted in some unscrupulous elements?taking?advantage of unsuspecting people?using AI-generated images.?One such instance is the case of the?catĄ¯s?eye?dazzle'?flowers.?
Some photos of?CatĄ¯s?Eye?Dazzle?Flowers have gone viral on social media?showing?the?flowers,?that look like cat faces and have black eyes and a nose.
Naturally, the photos have managed to get some eyeballs?and?people who have?been bowled over?by it are?apparently?buying?catĄ¯s?eye?dazzle?flower seeds online.
According to some reports, several e-commerce platforms?including?E-bay?are selling seeds?of?catĄ¯s?eye?dazzle?flower for anywhere between $15 and $30 per pack.?
While some people may have fallen for it, many are skeptical and have posted about them on social media.
"This appeared in my Google ads, searching for?Ą°cats?eye dazzleĄą?brings up loads of totally fake looking images. Is there a real plant and what does it look like?,"?one person posted on Reddit.
"This is one of those fake plants scammers sell like blue watermelon or blue strawberries,"?a user said while responding to the post.
In a related conversation on Quora, many users pointed out that these images have been making rounds on the internet for a long time, even before the current AI boom.
According to some reports, there are no scientific records of any?"CatĄ¯s?Eye Dazzle"?or?"Cryptanthus?bivittatus",?the supposed scientific name of the plant before 2024.
