US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Asian-Americans are not the reason for the spread of novel coronavirus. He said this after the Asian-American people became the target of a growing number of racist comments and attacks due to the spread of coronavirus.?
American President Donald Trump tweeted ¡°It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world¡¯
"They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form. They are working closely with us to get rid of it. We will prevail? Together!"
Trump also defended his use of the terms ¡°China Virus¡± and ¡°Chinese Virus¡± to describe the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 which originated in the China city Wuhan.?
Previously his calling the virus a china virus led to Asian American getting beaten up on a New York Subway.?
Donald Trump said that he was using this term as China blamed the virus on US soldiers.
He said last week "Because it comes from China. It's not racist at all, no, not at all. It comes from China, that's why. I want to be accurate."?
He further added: "I have great love for all of the people from our country, but as you know China tried to say at one point, that it was caused by American soldiers. That can't happen. It's not gonna happen, not as long as I'm President. It comes from China."
He also kept on denying that it wasn't a racist term to use.?
The WHO-World Health Organisation has discouraged the use of such words and terminology saying this can stigmatise communities and falsely indicate to others that they cannot be infected.?
