Air India has grounded two cabin crew members of its Tokyo-Delhi flight of March 25 for mistakenly serving non-vegetarian meal to a vegetarian passenger, government officials said, a report in Times of India said.
In a video that is doing rounds on social media, a passenger who had reportedly booked a Jain veg meal was speaking to two crew members. While he accepted their reasoning that they might not have served him non-veg "intentionally", he pointed out that they taken the issue "casually" and not doing the required checks before serving the meal.
An issue of a non-veg meal alleged to have been served to a passenger onboard AI307 (Tokyo Narita-Delhi)) of March 25 was raised on social media platform. The crew concerned were immediately barred from flying duties and an inquiry has been initiated. AI has zero tolerance towards any kind of lapse in service even if it is inadvertent.?
The video shows the passenger telling the crew members, "You did not care about my religious feelings and gave me non-veg despite me being a Jain and a vegetarian." He shot a video of the interaction and put it out on social media.
