Alliance Air Increases Number Of Flights From Kochi To Lakshadweep Amid Tourism Demand Surge
Amid the spike in tourist bookings to Lakshadweep, Alliance Air, the only airline that flies to the island, has started additional flights. Alliance Air, which Air India owned initially before the then-national carrier was sold to the Tata Group, has been operating flights between Kochi in Kerala and Agatti island, which has a regional airport serving Lakshadweep.

The airline operates 70-seater aircraft to the island daily.
A senior official of Alliance Air shared that the additional flights will operate from and to Lakshadweep two days a week - on Sunday and Wednesday.
According to the airline, the increase in the number of flights is due to the recent surge in the number of passengers planning to visit Lakshadweep.
Lakshadweep flight tickets sold out
Officials said that the daily flight is running at full capacity, and all tickets till March have been sold out.

"We are getting lots of queries on phone and social media regarding tickets. Following the huge demand for tickets, an additional flight has been added to the route. If required, frequency of the flight will be increased," an official said.
Travel portals have also reported that they are getting a record number of queries for Lakshadweep.
How to reach Lakshadweep
The Union Territory, comprising 36 islands, including some uninhabited ones, can be accessed by sea and air.
The nearest major city on the mainland is Kochi, from where tourists can fly or travel by ship to the tropical island paradise.

SpiceJet to launch Lakshadweep flights
Following the recent geopolitical developments that skyrocketed the demand for Lakshadweep tour packages, Ajay Singh, the CEO of SpiceJet, said that his airline has been granted exclusive rights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) for Lakshadweep.
Singh had also told an Annual General Meeting that SpiceJet will soon launch flights to Lakshadweep from more cities across the country.
