The Delhi Corona App, showed availability of merely 37 COVID ICU beds with ventilators, 58 COVID ICU beds, and 3382 COVID beds at 12 today.
The availability is set to crunch more as Delhi reported more than 25,500 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate has increased from 24 per cent to nearly 30 per cent, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday.?
"Positivity rate increased from 24 per cent to 30 per cent in the last 24 hours. Less than 100 ICU beds left & there's oxygen shortage. Spoke to Dr Harsh Vardhan yesterday & Amit Shah ji this morning regarding lack of beds & informed them that we're in dire need," Kejriwal said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided that the state government will set up a temporary 1,000-bed Covid hospital, possibly at the site where the Defence Expo was held last year.
Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is MP from Lucknow, has spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and requested him to provide space to defence authorities for setting up makeshift hospitals.
Lucknow is witnessing a surge in Covid cases and the city's medical infrastructure is inadequate to face the medical crisis.
The chief minister has also announced that there will be a total closure in the state on Sunday so as to enable sanitization and fogging on a large-scale.
All shops and establishments will remain closed and public movement will be allowed only in emergency conditions.
The country's largest COVID-19 facility at Radha Soami Satsang Beas in South Delhi, which was closed down in February, is being revived considering the unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases.
The management at the spiritual organisation's centre in Chattarpur confirmed that the facility will be restarted soon.
"The government is planning to restart the facility soon. Officials are likely to conduct a survey on Saturday evening and finalise the modalities," Vikas Sethi, the secretary of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas? centre, told PTI.
Asked if the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre is being revived, South Delhi District Magistrate Ankita Chakravorti replied in the affirmative.
The 10,200-bed facility was inaugurated on July 5 last year and was operated by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.?
At least six COVID-19 patients died in the ICU of a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol due to low pressure in medical oxygen supply.
The incident took place at the Government Medical College Hospital here on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
"Out of 62 patients admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward of the medical college's COVID-19 centre, six patients died due to low pressure of liquid oxygen late last night," the facility's dean, Dr Milind Shiralkar, said.
