Just as the two crucial states of Haryana and Maharashtra went to polls on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted a video on Twitter in which BJP MLA Bakshish Singh is seen addressing a gathering and telling them that no matter whom they cast their votes for, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will invariably send their votes to the BJP.??
News agency ANI has reported that a show-cause notice has been issued to the MLA from Assandh constituency of Haryana.?
Bakshish Singh, however, has come out to claim that the video former Congress President posted was "edited" and an investigation is being conducted in the matter.?
Notably, Rahul Gandhi posted the video with a catching caption, in which he dubbed Bakshish Singh as the most honest man in the BJP.?
While many on the social media platform rubbished Rahul Gandhi¡¯s indirect comments at the EVMs, pointing out quite clearly that his party only finds faults in the voting machines when their chances of winning the elections are minimal. Some also said that since the Congress party is losing election after election, they have nothing better to do than blaming the EVMs for their failure.?
Yet, there were dozens of voices on the internet who lent their support to his tweet.?
Allegations of EVM malfunctioning as well its tampering are not in India. In fact such allegations had reached their crescendo during the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 with a slew of Opposition leaders calling for an investigation into the matter.?
