The lockdown, it seems, has left some people desperate to earn a quick buck. At least that's what the following case will make you think.

Identified as Gunasekaran, the 25-year-old was arrested from Vannandurai in Besant Nagar by Mylapore Police. This happened after the cops got a tip off.?
According to a TOI report, Gunasekaran, who hails from Perungudi, was an employee of a food delivery application for over a year. He holds a degree in BCom. Due to coronavirus scare, people have been avoiding to order food online. Therefore, he did not much work and thought of selling ganja under the guise of delivering food. A police officer said that he took advantage of his uniform and went about the city peddling the contraband in the delivery box meant for keeping food.?
The police have seized as many as 20 sachets of ganja from him and handed him over to the Foreshore Estate Police. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.?
In another incident, a social worker, who earned a good social reputation due to his relief activities during the lockdown, was arrested for peddling spurious liquor in Kerala under the guise of supplying food to needy people. Several times, he had even helped police personnel in relief activities.?
The trust and his reputation helped him in supplying booze to alcohol-addicts on his two-wheeler vehicle. He had regular customers, who used to order alcohol by calling him. In order to avoid any kind of suspicion, he used ¡®chappati¡¯ as a code word for liquor.?
