It is not easy for rape survivors to get justice in India and it is even worse if the victim is from a marginalized community. There have been any number of such cases, including some in recent days.
But on one such case, police inaction took a tragic turn after a rape survivor allegedly killed herself.
A 32-year-old Dalit?woman, who was allegedly raped by three men four days ago, died by suicide on Friday in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district, police said.

"A woman died of suicide in Richhai village of Narisinghpur (on Friday). During the investigation, it was found that she came to file a report in Gotitoriya police station on September 28 to file a complaint but it was not registered," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Tiwari told ANI.
"On Friday morning, when she came out of her house, some women talked something bad about her character. Later, she killed herself. We have registered a case now and arrested two accused," he said.

On Friday, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered that a case be registered against the local police official, and two senior officials be shunted out.
"The Chief Minister has directions to register a case against the station in-charge for not writing an FIR and directed to arrest and remove additional SP, SDOP with immediate effect. Her husband alleged in his complaint that they were trying to get a case registered for the last three days but to no avail.
