The Mumbai Police have arrested a gunman linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who was involved in the shooting outside actor Salman Khan's residence in April this year. The gunman, identified as Sukkha, was arrested in Haryana's Panipat with assistance from local police.??
According to the police, Sukkha will be produced before a court on Thursday after being brought to Navi Mumbai. The development comes at a time when the free run of the Bishnoi gang is under the spotlight following the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique.??
The Bishnoi gang, which is estimated to have around 700 members, continues to operate in several parts of the country and abroad, even as its leader, Lawrence, has been behind bars since 2015.??
The gang has made multiple attempts on Khan's life, including in January 2024, when two unidentified persons tried to trespass into his farmhouse near Panvel, and the firing outside his house in April.??
In 2022, a threat letter was found on a bench opposite his building, while in March 2023, they received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.??
According to police, Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra's gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to monitor Khan's movements as part of efforts to conduct a recce at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and film shooting locations.??
Bishnoi reportedly ordered his gang to target Khan over the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident, where the actor was accused of hunting two antelopes, considered sacred animals by the Bishnoi community.?
Even the murder of Siddique last week is believed to be linked to Khan, as the four-time MLA was known to be close to the actor.??
A total of four people, including two gunmen, have been arrested so far in connection with the murder of Siddique.
