The fury of the devastating floods that wreaked havoc across various states in India has left a trail of destruction leaving scores dead. According to the latest figures, some 227 people have lost their lives in flood-related mishaps.?
Kerala, where 76 people were killed in the floods, is the worst hit. The death toll is likely to go up further as rescue teams are still searching at two locations where dozens are feared to be buried in two separate landslides.

Some 2.8 lakh people have been displaced in the heavy rains and floods, the second in as many years. But the good news for the state is that the downpours are slowing down, with heavy rains subsiding in most of the affected areas.
However, there there are high alerts in several districts as a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal could bring more rains.

Maharashtra is the second most affected state, with Kolhapur and Sangli districts battling unprecedented floods since the last eight days.

Even though rains have stopped in many parts, for now, there is a forecast of heavy downpours across the state till Thursday. Around 5 lakh people have reportedly been displaced in what is said to be the worst flooding in nearly half a century.

In Karnataka too the situation continues to be grim in 14 districts which have been affected by the deluge. The situation is particularly worse in Northern Karnataka where 42 people have lost their lives. Some 5 lakhs people have been displaced across the state so far.
According to reports, the rains have begun easing out, and water levels have started receding.?

"Rains have stopped in North Karnataka and water levels have started receding. The situation is under control and de-requisitioning of Army is likely to commence today. With most areas being accessible by road, helicopters are also likely to be de-requisitioned," Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) said on Monday.
In Madhya Pradesh, according to Skymet Weather, the rain intensity will pick up the pace and heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at some places over Madhya Pradesh. Particularly the eastern and northern districts of the state might get moderate to heavy rains as the system is traversing its path in Northwest direction.
In Gujarat, several parts including Saurashtra and Kutch regions received heavy rainfall in the last few days. Nearly 31 died in rain-related incidents in Gujarat in the last four days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in districts of South Gujarat in next two days and heavy to very heavy rainfall in districts of North Gujarat on Wednesday.
On Monday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has rescued nearly 125 people stranded on a road washed away by floods due to heavy rainfall in Kutch.
Odisha which is also battling a flood is predicted to receive more rains at least for the next few days.?
