Malkangiri District in Odisha is one of the remotest areas in India, and a hotbed of naxals.?
The backwardness of the area is mostly blamed on the Naxals who don't allow any infrastructure projects there.
They are also known for blowing up everything from roads to bridges and even schools. Given this background, the achievement of Sandhya Samarth is remarkable.?
Sandhya, a tribal girl from Malkangiri has cleared the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination.
A resident of Samili village under Mathili block of Malkangiri, a naxal stronghold, Sandhy secured 91st rank in the examination.?
Daughter of a farmer, Sandhya, much like others in her village began education from a nearby school, but later enrolled at Navodaya Vidyalaya before graduating from Bhubaneswar BJB College.
Sandhya who is currently preparing for her MPhil, cleared the OCS exam on her very first attempt, that too without any coaching.
Not content with her achievement, Sandhya has now set her eyes on UPSC examination.??
