India's ace athlete?Neeraj Chopra narrowly missed out on the top spot at the Doha Diamond League, falling short by just two centimeters. The Olympic and world champion settled for the second spot with a throw of 88.36 metres on Friday. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic took the first spot in the Diamond League javelin throw event with a throw of 88.38 metres, just 2 cm ahead of the Indian.
The Indian star athlete started with a foul throw on his first turn before hurling the javelin to 84.93 meters and followed it up with 86.24 metres.?

After throws of 86.18 metres and 82.28 metres, the 26-year-old Asian Games gold medalist, whose personal best is 89.94 meters, came up with his best effort of 88.36 in his sixth and final attempt but fell 2 cm short of Vadlejch's mark as the Indian superstar failed to defend the title he had won last year.?
Chopra had won the 2023 Doha Diamond League with a throw of 88.67 metres, ahead of Vadlejch (88.63) and Peters (85.88 metres).
Despite?once again?missing out on joining the elite 90-metre club, Chopra vowed to improve next time?around.?"I'm satisfied with the result?but?I'm not satisfied?with my effort," he said.
"I think I can do something about this, and maybe next competition?I?will throw farther."?

Two-time world champion Anderson Peters took the third spot with a best throw of 86.62 meters.
Meanwhile, another Indian athlete, Kishore Jena, had a disappointing Diamond League debut on Friday as he?was eliminated?after three rounds of throws.?
The 28-year-old began with a throw of 75.72 metres, then fouled his second?effort,?before coming up with 76.31 metres to finish in ninth place after three throws each by all?10?competitors. Jena has a personal best of 87.54 metres, a performance that fetched him a silver medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games last year.
