Where is Vikas Yadav, the former CRPF officer, who has been declared a fugitive by the FBI in the US for his alleged involvement in the plot to kill Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun? Ever since the US on Thursday charged him in the case and revealed his identity, the only official information from authorities in India was that he is no longer a government employee and that his whereabouts are unknown. There were also some reports that he might have been arrested.
New information emerging on Yadav claims that he was, in fact, arrested, but in a different case. According to an Indian Express report, Yadav was arrested by the Delhi Police Anti-Terror Wing Special Cell last year on charges of extortion and kidnapping. He was arrested in December, just a few weeks after US investigators listed him as CC1 in the failed murder-for-hire plot. Yadav was granted bail in April this year.
