A medical camp has been set up Delhi-Haryana's Singhu border to medically assist farmers who are protesting against Centre's contentious farm laws.
The medical camp has been set up by doctors in wake of the coronavirus pandemic which has already infected more than 9.4 million people in the country.
The doctors who are volunteering at the health camps have urged Centre to carry out tests among the protesting farmers given that COVID protocol isn't being followed.
The doctors said that farmers are made aware of the COVID guidelines and social distancing but majority of them are moving without masks.
"We should conduct COVID-19 test here. If there's any possibility of a super spreader, the disease might spread to other people which will be disastrous," a doctor told news agency ANI.
Dr Sarika Verma, another doctor present at the site also told ANI?that protesters were being provided with medicines, masks and other facilities.
ˇ°Yesterday a friend of mine informed me that some medical facilities are required here so I came here along with my colleague today to organise a free medical camp. We are providing them (protesters) with medicines, masks and other medical facilities,ˇ± she said.
However, despite the threat, farmers said that the new laws are a bigger threat to their life than coronavirus.
Many farmers said that they are aware of the coronavirus pandemic and the threat of infection but the Centre's new farm laws are a bigger threat.
