The farmers' unions have rejected the government's draft proposal to amend the new farm laws within hours of receiving it.
The government has proposed to make at least seven amendments to the contentious farm laws, including the one to alleviate fears about the weakening of the mandi system.
In a draft proposal sent to 13 agitating farmer unions, the government said it is also ready to provide clarifications on their concerns over the new farm laws.
The Centre-farmer talks have remained inconclusive as thousands of farmers stayed put at Delhi borders continuing the agitation for 14 days.
A farmers' forum received a proposal from the Union government and held a meeting at Singhu border to analyse the proposal.
On Tuesday night, a meeting called by home minister Amit Shah with 13 union leaders ended in failure.
The farmers insist that the Union government must repeal the three laws. The farmers have now called for a nationwide strike on December 14 and said that they will block the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
The sixth round of talks between the government and farmer unions to end the protests on Delhi's various borders, which was scheduled on Wednesday, has been cancelled.
As the protests continue,? traffic was disrupted at border points with farmers agitating on the Singhu, TIkri and Ghazipur borders of Delhi.
