In what appears to be a case of honour killing, a girl was beheaded on Thursday in Bihar¡¯s? Gaya district. The 16-year-old girl¡¯s body was also mutilated and police have arrested the parents of the girl and the local butcher.?
The girl who belonged to Patwa village under jurisdiction Buniyadganj police station had eloped with local youth and returned home three days later which triggered her parents¡¯ anger who allegedly ordered her murder, Gaya SP Rajiv Kumar Mishra told??The New Indian Express.
The girl¡¯s severely mutilated body was recovered from fields on Sunday including her beheaded head after her father lodged a missing report. The brutality of the crime can be fathomed by the fact that her face was burnt and her breasts?were chopped off.?
While initially, the police suspected it murder after the rape, but the autopsy report confirmed the victim wasn¡¯t raped. The brutal murder led to the massive protest by the public in the area.?
¡°While her father claimed that she had gone missing since December 28 and was possibly abducted, her younger sister said she (victim) was seen with a friend of her father¡¯s, who is a butcher by profession, on December 31. Our probe has gathered clinching evidence that it was an honour killing,¡± said the SP.
Police grew suspicious of the parents after they refused to come to the police station to answer questions after the body was recovered. The victim¡¯s three sisters too refused to turn up. But one of the sisters revealed to the police that the victim had eloped with local youth on December 28 and returned home on December 31. She also told police that victim was last seen with the butcher Leela Patwa who happens to be her father¡¯s friend on December 31 night.?
¡°During interrogation, the butcher confessed to killing the girl on the orders of her father, Turaj Prasad. Then the girl¡¯s parents confessed to the crime. The trio was arrested and forwarded to jail,¡± said a police official involved in the investigation.
