Be it the devastating Kerala floods or the rescue of Kashmiri students after the Pulwama attack or distributing gifts to Syrian refugees on Eid, volunteers of Khalsa Aid come forward to help those in need, time and again.?
Amidst a global pandemic and the desolation it has caused, Khalsa Aid, the UK-based humanitarian relief organisation, is leaving no stone unturned to help the most vulnerable sections of the society.
According to a report by The Tribune, close to 32,000 Khalsa Aid volunteers across the country are working round the clock to distribute langar and ration kits among the needy, PPE kits, masks and gloves among hospitals, cops and sanitation workers.
"Besides, the Khalsa Aid team in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Punjab chapter, has set up a 20-bed Covid-19 isolation centre at Malsian village in Shahkot to deal with any sort of unforeseen emergency in the near future," the report added.
A Khalsa Aid team immediately responded to the devastation caused by cyclone Amphan on Kolkata. In a Facebook post, it said,?"Cyclone Amphan, a powerful tropical cyclone which caused massive destruction in east India and wreaked havoc in Kolkata with taking 72 lives till date.?Khalsa Aid India team immediately responded to the disaster in Kolkata.?We are providing emergency relief assistance like drinking water and hot cooked meals to the affected population.?This is an ongoing project. The cyclone has so far killed at least 80 people in West Bengal.
?A team of volunteers is also providing food and water to the migrants heading on foot due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown in Punjab.
Not only India, Khalsa Aid is offering help around the globe too.
With Ramzan going on and Eid just around the corner, Khalsa Aid is distributing hundreds of hot Iftar meals to numerous families in Mosul, Iraq, who are unable to afford food due to the ongoing pandemic.?
In Kenya, the organisation is funding food rations for the needy.
In a Facebook post, Khalsa Aid said: "We are funding emergency food rations for 1,000s of people in Kenya who are struggling economically due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Our thanks to Ramgharia Youth Association (RYA) in Nairobi for their wonderful assistance."
Besides Kenya, the organisation was also "supporting International students and migrant workers in Russia, Cyprus, Ukraine, Canada, the US, Australia and the UK with food rations.
