India has reported at least 600 adverse events following the COVID-19 vaccination drive which began in the country on January 16.
On Wednesday, India reported 82 adverse reactions in people after they were vaccinated.
So far, 10 people have been hospitalised in six states due to reported adverse event following Covid immunisation, of which seven have been discharged.
India has approved two vaccines ¡ª Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and Serum Institute of India's Covishield ¡ª for emergency use in the country. Frontline workers and healthcare workers are being vaccinated in the first phase.
The health ministry has claimed that 0.18 per cent adverse events happened following immunisation and 0.002 per cent of people were hospitalised following immunisation.?
These are fairly low and the lowest so far in the world in the first three days, claims the health ministry.
India has so far vaccinated close to 800,000 (7,868,42) healthcare workers against Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) through 14,119 sessions till Wednesday, government data shows, of which 112,007 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6pm on Wednesday.
"The concerns about adverse effects and serious problems, as of now, seem to be insignificant. Data show that we are in a comfortable situation and we would like to reassure you that the two COVID-19 vaccines are safe," the health ministry said.
