'Indians are the worst-behaved tourists': Indian YouTuber's China vlog sparks outrage over disrespectful behaviour
When an Indian YouTuber ventured into China recently, she intended to share a captivating journey through her vlog. However, what was meant to be an exciting travel narrative has sparked a massive controversy. Her actions and behavior during the trip have struck a nerve, leading to a whirlwind of outrage online.
Jyoti Malhotra, a travel vlogger, uploaded a 35-minute video on her YouTube channel about a month ago, sharing clips from her trip to China.
However, it only recently went viral after excerpts from the vlog were shared on X, sparking a wave of controversy.
The X post described her behavior with a series of accusations: "High caste Indian youtuber in China:?Asked for a window seat in a commanding tone;?Forcibly boarded old lady's scooter without consent & asked her to travel in opposite direction;?Forcibly stopped a moving bus,? took bus without coin (twice),& ask driver to stop at a non-station place."
In the video, Jyoti can initially be seen excitedly vlogging her high-speed train journey.
Initially admiring the train's aesthetics, she then demands that a passenger move from the window seat to the middle seat, referring to him dismissively as "Chinni bhai."
Later, she brazenly hops onto a Chinese woman's scooter for a lift, despite the woman's insistence that she's headed in the opposite direction. Jyoti presses her to take her anyway, using a condescending tone: 'Chal na yaar.'
The video also shows Malhotra boarding a bus and ignoring the driver's request for a fare, proceeding to her seat and then arguing with the driver as she tries to disembark at a non-designated stop.?
Throughout her interactions, she makes several disparaging comments about local people and speaks in Hindi, a language that the locals do not understand, further aggravating the situation.
Comments on the video reflect a mix of frustration and embarrassment over her behavior.?
One viewer said, "Really sad to see this. Deport her immediately. The rest of us Indians are well-behaved and humble. Sorry for your experience."
Another commented, "Disgusting behavior by this Indian woman!!" and a third added, "Indians are the worst-behaved tourists. Absolutely low life."
Another wrote, "Entitlement at its worst. Calling that gentleman ĄŽChinni bhaiĄ¯ instead of 'Sir' and rudely demanding favors from that lady. This is cringe-worthy boorishness."
