A church in Kerala arranged for its cemetery to conduct a cremation of a Hindu woman, as per The New Indian Express. This was the second time the church was doing this.?
St George Forane Church, Edathua authorities gave permission to cremate the body of Krishnaveni, 85, wife of the late Sreenivasan of Puthenpurayil at Koilmukku, in the cemetery. Sreenivasan died of COVID back in June and he too was cremated here.
Krishnaveni died due to old age according to Ajithkumar Pisharath, a member of Chambakulam block panchayat. She died on July 13.?
She is survived by sons Remesh and Suresh and daughter Vijaya.?
¡°Her family has less than five cents and the house premises are underwater. Hence, grama panchayat member Babu Mathuruthy contacted church authorities and vicar Fr Mathew Chooravadi who allowed the body to be cremated in the cemetery. He had also allowed the cremation of her husband in the cemetery last month,¡± he said.?
Church vicar Fr Mathew, trustee K M Mathew Thakazhiyil, parish committee member Bibil Mathew Kandathil and Alex Manjummal made all the necessary arrangements.?
