A leopard made an unexpected appearance at the renowned Ghorakhal temple in Uttarakhand's Nainital on Monday morning, as captured by CCTV footage.
The elusive feline was observed wandering around the temple premises, entering the complex around 3:40 am and leisurely strolling near the Golu deity's temple.
Another camera angle depicted the leopard roaming in the open area within the temple complex. The CCTV recordings revealed that the leopard lingered inside the temple premises for a period before eventually departing.Incidents of leopards venturing into residential areas have become increasingly common across the country.
Just days earlier, on January 21, a leopard infiltrated a residential area in Haryana's Hisar, where it attacked two individuals. Following a seven-hour rescue operation, authorities managed to capture the leopard. The presence of the leopard was initially noted by a newspaper vendor in Rishi Nagar around 7 am, with subsequent CCTV footage corroborating its presence in the vicinity.
On January 19, Rajasthan Forest Department has captured a leopard, that had strayed into the staff room of a heritage hotel in Jaipur. The leopard entered the heritage hotel Kanota Castle, located on the outskirts of Jaipur on Agra Road in the morning.
It was first spotted at around 9 am in the hotel's staff room. According to a spokesperson of the hotel, no one was present in the room when the leopard entered it and no one was attacked by the big cat.
After being alerted by the hotel administration, the adult male leopard was captured. It was then shifted to Nahargarh Rescue Centre after tranquilisation.
