In a shocking incident, an e-commerce delivery boy was allegedly killed by two men in an attempt to steal an iPhone. Bharat was killed on 23rd September in Lucknow's Chinhat area, where he had gone to deliver an iPhone.According to the police, Gajanan, a resident of Chinhat, had ordered an iPhone worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from Flipkart through COD (Cash on Delivery).?
But when Bharat reached the customer to deliver his order, Gajanan and his friend Akash allegedly killed the delivery boy and stole the iPhone. The duo then allegedly stuffed his body in a gunny sack and dumped it into the Indira Canal.
The crime came to light after the 30-year-old's family registered a missing persons complaint on 25th September at the Chinhat police station.
During the investigation, the police looked into Bharat's call details and found Gajanan's number. They also managed to zero in on his friend Akash, who, during interrogation, confessed to the crime.
While they have admitted to killing Bharat, his body is yet to be recovered, and a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been called to find it.
It is unclear how Gajanan ordered an iPhone via COD, as most e-commerce platforms, including Flipkart and Amazon, do not provide this payment option for such high-value items.
In a related incident, a woman from Bengaluru who ordered an iPhone 15 from Flipkart during the Big Billion Days Sale alleged that a 'fake' delivery executive showed up on her doorstep with a parcel.
According to a Reddit post by the woman's brother, the fake delivery agent showed up with a large parcel and refused Open Box Delivery (OBD). After he recorded the entire incident and threatened to expose him, the 'real' delivery boy reached the location within two minutes and handed over the package after opening the box and confirming that it was a genuine product.
