During the violence that unfolded in the national capital earlier this week, several people lost their lives. Gut-wrenching stories of people being brutally thrashed and beaten to death made headlines, while on the other hand many came out in support of their neighbours and families facing violence.
In Shiv Vihar, one the prime areas of communal violence in Delhi, a school was ravaged by a huge mob.
According to a report by India Today, Shiv Vihar's DRP Convent School was attacked by a mob who broke furniture, and set chairs and tables ablaze.
An elderly man told India Today, while pointing at two lines of ropes running down the side of the building, "they came from here."
What was left of the school after the mob left was a scene of ruin and desolation.
They uprooted a generator and set it on fire. They pulled out the furniture from all the class rooms and threw them into the courtyard before burning them.
Around northeast Delhi, where the riots took place, the scene was similar -- charred vehicles, burnt houses and torched shops.
So far, hundreds of arrests have been made by the police.
