After creating quite a buzz because of Vikrant Massey's interviews and his unexpected support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,?The Sabarmati Report has finally been released in theatres and the film based on the 2002?Godhra train burning incident has been praised by none other than the PM himself.? Not only Massey but even producer Ekta Kapoor, who had earlier said that she would like Modi and Amit Shah to also watch her film, thanked the PM on social media expressing her gratitude. Meanwhile, people are questioning PM Modi's silence on Manipur killings.
Taking to X, PM Modi said that the truth has come out via the film as earlier a fake narrative was being propagated. "It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out," he wrote quoting a tweet that praised the film that minted Rs 1.69 crores on the opening day.?
Ekta Kapoor thanked PM Modi for showing his support to the film. Kapoor had earlier said that she would love if PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also watches the film. "I want every politician, people interested in politics and people from media to watch this film," she added.?
Even Vikrant Massey who was being trolled for becoming a BJP supporter ahead of his film's release thanked the prime minister in a post on Instagram. "Honorable Prime Minister, thank you very much for your positive words on #TheSabarmatiReport they have encouraged us.Your appreciation at #TheSabarmatiReport proves that we are on the right direction. Thank you for the love and support! ?History is the witness, whether it is country or human, it takes care of it only after falling. No matter how long the period of lies is, the truth changes it," he wrote.?
Meanwhile, a lot of people in the comments section pointed out how PM Modi has remained silent on Manipur killing but he is talking about a Bollywood movie. "Did anyone see any Tweet for Manipur¡¯s fresh killing incidents from Supreme Leader?" a user wrote. "Amazing. That PM has so much time on hand to promote a movie. Must be all too well otherwise in the country," said another one. "Manipur is literally burning & you are sh@melessly promoting a propaganda movie," said another user.
Filmmaker Vinod Kapri also wrote, "Manipur has been burning for 2 years,Can't you see that?48 hours ago, 10 children were burnt,Can't you see that?"
Fresh incidents of violent protests erupted on Saturday night, despite an indefinite curfew being imposed. The unrest followed public outrage over the killing of three women and three children by militants in Jiribam district. Earlier, on November 16, agitated citizens had attacked the residences of three state ministers and six MLAs. For the unversed, more than 200 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Imphal-based Meiteis and adjoining hills-based Kukis in Manipur since May last year.
