Destination weddings are gaining popularity in India, injecting a touch of glamour into the traditional marriage ceremony. Couples are opting for picturesque venues, both domestically and internationally, in pursuit of capturing that perfect Instagram-worthy moment.
However, while exchanging vows is a monumental occasion, orchestrating a wedding, especially one set in a picturesque location, can be overwhelming and often carries a hefty price tag.
Acknowledging the high wedding costs, a Mumbai-based company has introduced Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) specifically designed for couples planning destination weddings.
The scheme has elicited mixed reactions on social media platforms by offering monthly payment options such as Rs 11,000, Rs 31,000, and Rs 43,500.
Since its debut on Instagram, the post has amassed over 17,000 likes and garnered a plethora of comments. Some online users sought clarification regarding the instalment period, while others highlighted the challenges of saving money as adults.
Reacting to the post, one user humorously quipped, "Ab shaadi se pehle Mahurat aur Market dono track karna padega. (Now, before the wedding, one must track both the auspicious timing and the market.)"
Another earnestly inquired, "Investment period kitna hai? (What is the investment period?)."
An individual offered a suggestion, "Shaadiyo ki Return of Investment (ROI) is less than FDs."
"We adults have a hard time saving money, and now weddings are also so expensive. How will one ever be able to save money?" read one comment.
Another jestingly questioned, ¡°Ankur Warikoo bhai ki shaadi hai kya ji? (Is it Ankur Warikoo¡¯s wedding?)¡±
One more shared, "My dumb brain misinterpreted SIP for Sip. I was ready for tea."
In addition to the innovative wedding plan offered by the Mumbai-based company, a doctor couple from Maharashtra elevated wedding card creativity to a unique level by designing stock market-themed invitations.
Using stock market terms to symbolize various ceremonies, the couple humorously introduced themselves as Dr. Sandesh Medicine Ltd and Dr. Divya Anaesthesia Ltd.
The invitation was hilariously titled 'Invitation of Precious Occasion (IPO),' while they referred to the wedding as a 'merger' and called their guests' investors.'
The page sharing the invitation card wrote, "Marriage invitation card of a doctor who seems to be a die-hard fan of the stock market, read from the 1st line which is in Hindi."
Notably, the couple also incorporated the names of renowned investors such as Jhunjhunwala, Warren Buffett, and Harshad Mehta for an added touch of humour and flair.??
