Losing weight requires a lot of effort and dedication. Majority of people struggle to lose those extra kilos which span years of distress. What if you get paid to lose weight??
Insta360, a technology firm based in China, has garnered extensive acclaim for its inventive program aimed at weight loss. The initiative provides employees with incentives totaling nearly one million yuan (Rs 1.1 crore or $140,000 USD)) for achieving weight reduction goals.
According to reports from Jiupai News, the program was launched by the company, headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, at the beginning of the previous year. As a result, 150 employees collectively shed 800 kg and received a combined total of 980,000 yuan (Rs 1.1 crore) in cash bonuses.

Reported by the South China Morning Post, the program is designed like a weight-loss boot camp and spans three months, with 30 employees enrolled per session. Priority is given to employees with obesity, and the company has conducted five camps to date. Each camp is divided into three groups: two groups of ten and one group of five. Participants are weighed weekly and earn 400 yuan (US$55)(Rs 5,000) for every 0.5 kg lost on average per group. If any member gains weight, the group loses the bonus and is fined 500 yuan each (Rs 5,700).
During the three-month camps, no participants have gained weight, largely due to the added moral motivation of group dynamics. According to Li, a staff member, "Creating groups adds a moral dimension for employees. If you don't slim down, you affect not only your own bonus but also that of your colleagues."

Li, who enrolled in the program in November of last year, found motivation in both the financial rewards and concerns for his health. He committed to daily physical activities like running, swimming, and playing basketball, in addition to maintaining a controlled diet. As a result of his efforts, he shed 17.5 kg and earned 7,410 yuan (Rs 85,000).
The weight-loss initiative has garnered significant praise on social media platforms. "What an amazing company! I wish I could be a part of it," remarked one user on Weibo. Another user humorously quipped, "If I were there, I'd run 10 km every day, and the company would go bankrupt with an employee like me!"
