The National Testing Agency's (NTA) decision to go ahead with the NEET and JEE exams has stirred an unheaval among the students across the country.
The students are planning a protest from their homes tomorrow, demanding postponement or cancellation of exams given the alarming rise in coronavirus cases.
According to reports, from 8 am, students across the country eligible for exams are set to ¡°raise Black Flags from homes, tie black bands on arm or forehead, wear black mask, turn their profile pictures BLACK!¡± to protest the decision.
Some students have already changed their social media profile pictures to black. A massive unrest is already visible on various social media platforms.
Several states and minsters have urged Centre to rethink exam dates.
National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed that the exams will take place on the dates announced earlier. JEE Mains exam 2020 will be held from September 1 to 6, while the NEET (UG) exam 2020 will be held on September 13.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia reiterated his demand that medical and engineering entrance exams NEET and JEE be postponed and the Central government work on alternative methods for selecting students. "They (Centre) are saying protocols will be followed. Following the same protocols that the Centre wants 28 lakh students to follow, lakhs of Indians have tested positive," Sisodia told reporters.?
Actor Sonu Sood in a tweet urged the government to postpone the exams.
Meanwhile, amid the protests, the NEET 2020 admit cards have been released.
