Amidst looming onion crisis in the country, a truckload of it has reportedly been stolen in Madhya Pradesh while being transported from Nasik to Gorakhpur.
Businessman Premchand Shukla, a resident of Nasik has lodged a complaint with police accusing transporter named Javed.
According to his complaint, he had transported onions worth Rs 20 lakh from Nasik to Gorakhpur on truck number MP09AH8318, which belong to Javed. The truck was located in Shipuri but onions were missing, he claimed.
Shivpuri Anaj Sangh¡¯s Mohammad Irshad told media that organisation members were trying to help the Nasik trader in locating his onions along with the police.
?Those named in the FIR are being examined.
Last month state government had issued orders warning traders against hoarding intimidating action under the various activities.
As per this order, onion wholesalers and commission, agents are allowed to stock only 500 quintals of onion that too for not more than 45 days.
Onion prices soared to Rs 100 per kg in Bhopal on Wednesday. Administrative officials have been asked to keep a constant vigil on those stocking onions beyond the permissible limit.
