Meanwhile the patients have been shifted to Cooper Hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital, P Thackeray Trauma Hospital, Hiranandani Hospital, Siddharth Hospital and Seven Hills hospital.
Even though it was not immediately clear, but multiple reports suggest that the fire was caused from a short circuit in an AC.

Since the fire broke out, it has come to light that the hospital had no proper fire extinguisher system and it did not even have an NOC from the Fire Department, which means that the hospital's functioning itself was illegal.
Just 15 days before the incident the hospital had failed the fire safety test after the fire department found out that the sprinkle and detection system were not in line with provisions.
The hospital also lacked any fire exits, which made the rescue operations all the more difficult.
