It is?very common?to see animals?including,?cows, goats, dogs, and more?on?the streets of India, no matter which part of the country?it is or which city it is.?Though these stray animals can become a nuisance for commuters and?pedestrians?we have all learned to live with this reality.?This?is something that people outside the country fail to understand and sometimes mock us?saying?nothing stops the traffic in?India,?except the cow.
But Naotaka Nishiyama, a Japanese?entrepreneur?has a different take on the sight of various animals on the streets of India.
Nishiyama, the CEO and founder of Tech?Japan?is of the opinion?that it is a sign that people and animals can coexist peacefully.
"Booked an Uber.?Five minutes?later?I was notified?of?arrival?and looked back at the exit.?Did you call for me??It was as if he was talking to me.?But I am not a mighty god?Shiva.?I plan to ride in a Maruti Suzuki, not a sacred cow," Nishiyama wrote on LinkedIn, with a photo of a cow standing behind him.
According to Nishiyama, during his first visit to India, he was amazed at the diversity of animals walking the streets.
"Cows, dogs, monkeys, squirrels, and many other animals coexist in India," he said.
"In Japan, you can only see them in regulated national reserves and zoos. If an animal is seen walking on the street, the police are notified and the animal is immediately captured. In some cases, they are slaughtered. But not so here," Nishiyama noted.
He pointed out that, while we may think we control the earth, it is not just for humans?and?various living creatures also exist here.
"The importance of biodiversity may permeate our lives in India. And perhaps the people who live here/India are tolerant of a wide variety of creatures. Of course, there are diverse races in human society as well as animals. That is why a respectful and tolerant heart is important for diverse people to coexist," Nishiyama wrote.
