Talent is the only virtue that can¡¯t be discriminated on the basis of caste, creed, religion or financial status. Determination and hard work will always pay off in the end. While reading these lines, many who are struggling to achieve their dreams wonder if these things are said only for namesake, but nothing fruitful emerges when it comes to reality.
However, the son of an electrician has set an example in the real world by grabbing a pay package of $100,000 in an American firm. Mohammad Aamir Ali, the son of an electrician at Jamia Millia Islamia is the only Jamia diploma holder to receive such a high amount.
Ali who has six other brothers, scored good in the JMI school board examinations but was unable to clear Jamia¡¯s B-tech course for three consecutive years. Due to financial constraints, he couldn¡¯t pursue an architecture course at NIT Jharkhand. Finally in 2015, he took admission for a diploma in mechanical engineering.
Young Ali then developed a theory to charge electric vehicles. He tells TOI, ¡°"Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is a major challenge in India. I developed a theory. If I succeed, the cost of charging vehicles will be almost zero. But initially, my teachers didn't believe me as it was a new area of work. However, assistant professor Waqar Alam finally realised the potential of my work and guided me. I made a prototype of my research and showcased it in the Talimi Mela of Jamia.¡±
He later sent his expression of interest to the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Professor Zeeshan Hussain, director of CIE promoted the project at various levels ands got it uploaded on the University website.
The idea appealed to an American automobile company, Frisson Motor Werks, Charlotte, North Carolina. The firm contacted him through the university and offered him a lucrative job as a battery management system engineer. Ali¡¯s father Shamshad Ali couldn¡¯t be more happier. His son always had a lot of questions regarding the functioning of electrical equipment and electricity, however, Shamshad couldn¡¯t answer all of them despite being an electrician for so many years. He advised Ali to work hard and finally he reaped the rewards for his efforts.
