A woman from the South American country of Colombia was in for a nasty surprise when she opened the package she had just received from e-commerce giant Amazon. Instead of the air fryer the customer, identified as Sofia Serrano, had ordered, there was a monitor lizard inside the package.
Serrano posted about the shocking incident on social media on July 18, saying, "We ordered an air fryer through Amazon, and it arrived with a companion. I don't know if it was Amazon's fault or the carrier's fault... good morning."
She also attached a photo of the reptile clinging to the corner of the box. Though Amazon responded to Serrano and apologized, it seems like no further help or assistance was provided.

"We already know that it was the responsibility of Amazon because the reptile was put in the bag where the air fryer was packaged. Amazon does not want to take responsibility, and the situation is very serious since a foreign animal can generate health implications," she said in a follow-up post a day later.
The post has since gone viral, and many have reacted with shock. Some also wondered how and from where the reptile ended up inside the Amazon package, as it is not even a native species. Others felt sorry for the reptile that had to endure the hours- or even days-long travel, trapped inside the package.

While items getting mixed up is very common when it comes to online shopping, incidents like these are extremely rare. Recently, a couple from Bengaluru faced a similar situation when they spotted a cobra stuck on the tape of an Amazon package delivered to them. The couple had ordered an Xbox from Amazon, but when it arrived, to their utter shock, they found a spectacled cobra sticking out of the package.
