The creator of Super 30 programme, Anand Kumar, will now teach in Delhi government schools that have undergone massive facelift. Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia said that Kumar has agreed to conduct one class per month for students of the city's government schools.
Kumar teaches underprivileged children and prepares them for IIT Entrance Exams.
"Am happy to share that Anand Kumar has agreed to conduct one class every month for Delhi Govt school students. This will be an online, virtual classroom for Class 11,12 students of our schools," Manish Sisodia posted on Twitter.
On July 24, Kumar visited a government school in the national capital, during an event organised by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Sisodia called Anand Kumar, 46, an inspiration to teachers and students and said "this is what it truly means to be a guru".
The minister also added the Super 30, the movie based on the life of Kumar, will be made ¡°tax free¡±.?
"Delhi Govt will be giving tax-free status to the movie 'Super 30', so that it can inspire students and teachers in Delhi," he tweeted.
Thanking Sisodia, Kumar tweeted, ¡°it was a pleasure visiting a government school" and thanked the AAP leader for his "kind gesture".
AAP member Atishi tweeted, ¡°It was an honour to have Anand Kumar of #Super30 fame visit a Delhi Govt school. #Super30 classes made children realise that their humble background wouldn¡¯t be a barrier for their success. This is the dream we want to fulfil for 16 lakh students studying in Delhi govt schools!¡±
Delhi¡¯s government schools have gone under a radical change under AAP and stand at par with numerous private schools in terms of quality of education and infrastructure.
There has been a stable increase in Class 12 pass percentage - up 3.6 per cent to 94.24 per cent this year - and funding, which now stands at Rs 14,000 crore.
In June, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that for the first time government schools in the city have received more applications than the private schools.
