Malluguda is a tribal village in Gumma Laxmipuram mandal of Andhra Pradesh. The villagers here gave a traditional farewell to the government teacher of a local school which he will always remember. As per a report in The New Indian Express, they washed his legs with turmeric water and took him in a procession by carrying him on their shoulders as a mark of respect.
Goudu Narendra was the headmaster of a Malluguda Mandal Parishad Primary School for 10 years. He was extremely dedicated to his job. He would take classes for the 20 children on the verandahs of nearby houses and under trees when the school building collapsed in 2016 to ensure students never missed out on lessons crucial to their education.
The man's efforts impressed the villagers so much that they built shed to run the school after Dasara holidays.?
Narendra also got students ready for the competitive exams. He hails from Mondekhal village of Kurupam mandal. He said that when people heard of the progress the kids made in Malluguda Mandal Parishad Primary School, 12 students from villages close by took admission there.?
¡°We saw the improvement in our children¡¯s education under him,¡± said S Raju of Malluguda village. ???
¡°As part of expressing gratitude to the teacher, we washed his legs with holy turmeric water and took him in a procession by carrying him on our shoulders,¡± he added.
No doubt he will be missed and the way they sent him off shows what the man meant to the locals. A selfless individual who put the kids ahead of himself.?
