The horror of Encephalitis has returned almost two years after it killed around 70 children in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. This time, Bihar has got hit by the menace as the fresh outbreak of? ?Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has reportedly caused death of 17 children.
In last one week, Muzaffarpur district alone has witnessed deaths of 12 children and on Sunday 13 children were admitted to the hospitals.
Earlier, 21 children were brought to Sri Krishna Memorial College Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur on Friday with symptoms of encephalitis. 14 other cases have been reported from Kejriwal hospital in the district.?

The civil surgeon in Muzaffarpur, SP Singh told News18 on Saturday that the reasons for the deaths of the children is being investigated, but the children are getting admitted with high fever and hypoglycaemia i.e sudden drop in sugar levels.?
