Ma Vijayapriya Nithyananda, the so-called Permanent Ambassador of the fictitious 'country' of the United States of Kailasa, recently courted controversy by claiming that rape-accused self-styled controversial godman Nithyananda is being "persecuted by anti-Hindu elements" in India. Now, she has issued a 'clarification' on her statements.
"I would like to clarify that I stated that the SPH Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam is persecuted in his birthplace by certain anti-Hindu elements. The United States of KAILASA holds India in high regard and respects India as its Gurupeedam. Thank you," Vijayapriya said in a statement posted on Twitter.
"We would like to issue a clarification regarding my statement at the United Nations that is being misinterpreted, willfully manipulated, and distorted by certain anti-Hindu sections of the media," she said further.
"We urge the Indian government to take action against these anti-Hindu elements who continue to attack and incite violence against The SPH and KAILASA," the so-called Permanent Ambassador stated further.
This comes days after the woman, said to be a close aide of the rape-accused fugitive godman, created quite a storm after it was claimed that she addressed the United Nations in Geneva.
The woman had attended the 19th United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESR) and the photos and videos of it were shared widely to give the impression that?Nithyananda's fictional nation of 'Kailasa', which nobody knows the geographical location of, has been recognised by the United Nations.
She had claimed that under the "Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism"?Nithyananda, "Kailasa has been implementing the ancient Hindu policies and indigenous solutions that are in alignment with time-tested Hindu principles" for sustainable development".
She also sought the UN's involvement in stopping the "persecution" of?Nithyananda, who fled India in 2019 after an arrest warrant was issued against him in a rape case.
Following the misleading claims, the UN human rights office Thursday said any submissions made by representatives of the United States of Kailasa were "irrelevant" and will not be considered in the final outcome drafts.
Confirming the participation of the so-called "USK representatives" at two of its public meetings - registration to which was open to everyone, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), however, said they were prevented from distributing promotional material and their "tangential" speech was not taken into consideration.
The OHCHR spokesperson also said that USK attended the event open for any NGOs and the general public.?
