While thousands of Afghans are risking their lives, and some even died, in a bid to flee the country after the Taliban took over, US military dogs were evacuated on a plane and were give reserved seats.
Thousands of Afghans rushed to the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul in recent days, with chilling images? showing desperate people flooding the runways and running after departing planes.
Just a couple of days ago, nearly 650 people squeezed themselves onto a cargo jet designed to carry 150 people.
In total contrast, recent images circulating on social media show plane seats being reserved solely for military dogs leaving the country with handlers.
In a widely shared image, a dogĄ¯s head and ears are visible in a plane seat. Other images show the animals waiting to board flights and US evacuees entering the airport grounds with the dogs.
These images have been met with strong backlash from people arguing the animals should not be given plane seats while Afghan residents are risking their lives to try and get space on the transport.
Reports say at least ten people died in the chaotic scenes at the Kabul airport.
