Four people were critically injured after heavy fog caused a dozen vehicles to collide with one another amid poor visibility on the Ambala-Yamunanagar-Saharanpur highway in Haryana on Sunday morning.
Lokesh Rana, a traffic police officer, said he received information that 10 to 15 vehicles had collided with each other on the highway. Police teams were rushed to the spot and?rescued the people trapped in the vehicles and also lifted the damaged vehicles with the help of cranes.
As the vehicles collided with each other, they blocked the roads, causing traffic to pile up on both sides of the highway, inconveniencing road users. However, police and traffic personnel were spotted clearing the traffic and streamlining vehicular movement.
On receiving information about the accident, several ambulances also rushed to the spot and the injured were taken to the hospital.?The injured are currently undergoing treatment.
Yamuna Nagar saw dense fog for the second consecutive day today causing a visibility in the area to be reduced significantly in the area.
While the injured of the vehicles involved in the initial collision were trying to get out of their vehicles, more vehicles continued to tail end into the previously hit vehicles resulting in almost a dozen vehicles to be involved in the multiple collusion.
Visibility has been very low due to heavy fog in the area for the last two days.
