Passengers aboard a Vistara flight from Dubai faced an unusual situation upon landing in Mumbai on Sunday when they were taken to the domestic terminal without completing the immigration process. This incident, deemed a security violation, raised concerns about operating procedures and security protocols at Indian airports.
According to a Vistara spokesperson, a few passengers were mistakenly directed to the domestic arrivals area instead of the international arrivals section. However, the airline promptly rectified the error by escorting these passengers to the designated terminal to complete the necessary international arrival formalities.
In response to this incident, Vistara has pledged to tighten its operating procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The airline's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its passengers remains paramount amidst such unforeseen circumstances.
"Few of our customers, arriving from Dubai to Mumbai on Vistara flight UK 202 on February 4, were erroneously taken to domestic arrivals instead of international arrivals," the spokesperson said.
Vistara reiterated that its teams collaborated closely with security agencies and relevant authorities to swiftly address the situation. Together, they ensured that the affected passengers were promptly escorted to the designated area where they could complete their arrival formalities and proceed with their journey in compliance with international aviation protocols.
"We are revisiting and further tightening our standard operating procedures to avoid any recurrence," Vistara added.
