Who Was Divya Pahuja, Former Model And 'Girlfriend' Of Gangster Sandeep Gadoli, Shot Dead In Gurugram?

The Haryana police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of Divya Pahuja, a former model from Punjab, who was shot dead in a hotel in the city on Tuesday night.

One of the accused has been identified as Abhijeet Singh, the owner of a Hotel City Point, where the murder took place, while the two others are his employees -- Hemraj, a resident of Nepal, and Omprakash, a resident of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.

Crime caught on CCTV

Gurugram Police have recovered CCTV visuals from the hotel showing the accused dragging the body wrapped in a white sheet through the lobby.

The body was then loaded onto Singh's BMW car, and two others drove it towards Punjab and dumped it in an undisclosed location. The body of Pahuja is yet to be recovered.

Police launched a probe after the victim's sister, Naina Pahuja, filed a complaint alleging that she was missing after going to the Hotel with Singh.

An FIR was registered under sections 302 (murder), 201 (hiding evidence), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (common intention) of the India Penal Code at Sector 14 police station, and police are questioning the arrested accused.

What accused said

Singh told police during the initial interrogation that Hotel City Point belonged to him, but he had given it on lease.

He alleged Divya Pahuja used to blackmail him and extort money. He said she wanted a huge sum this time.

Police said Pahuja was shot dead allegedly by the hotel owner because she extorted money from him after blackmailing him with his "obscene pictures".

"Accused Abhijeet said that on January 2, he had come to Hotel City Point with Divya Pahuja, and he wanted to delete his obscene photos from her phone, but Divya Pahuja did not tell the password of her phone.

"Due to this, Abhijeet shot dead Divya Pahuja and, along with Hemraj and Om Prakash, who worked as cleaning and reception workers in the hotel. They kept the dead body in the accused Abhijeet's BMW car.

"After this, accused Abhijeet called his two other associates and gave them his car to dispose of the dead body. Our teams are conducting raids to nab the accused and recover the body," Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.

Victim was in jail for seven years

It should be noted that the victim was out on bail since June last year, after being behind bars for nearly seven years, in connection with a murder case in Mumbai.

Pahuja was the ex-girlfriend of Sandeep Gadoli, one of Gurugram's most-wanted gangsters who was killed by the police in an encounter in a Mumbai hotel in 2016.

It was alleged that Virendra Kumar alias Binder Gujjar, a rival gangster, conspired with Haryana Police officials to eliminate Gadoli.

Pahuja was allegedly used a honey trap to lure Gadoli to the hotel, and she was present in the room when the gangster was shot dead in a fake encounter.

Mumbai Police had arrested Pahuja, her mother and five policemen who had allegedly killed the gangster.

According to the victim's sister, Divya was killed at the behest of Gadoli's Sister, Sudesh Kataria, and his brother Brahm Prakash gave money to Abhijeet to carry out the murder.
