A woman allegedly took her own life in Gujarat and said that her husband tortured her. Well after her death, cops held her husband and in-laws on the basis of the allegations in her 18-page suicide note.??
She alleged in the note that her husband married her for sexual favours and her in-laws assaulted her. The accused is Dr Hitendra Patel. He's an orthopaedic surgeon at Devam Orthopedic Hospital in Sola, Ahmedabad.
His wife's name is Harsha Patel. They tied the knot in 2020 and were childless. On February 9, she allegedly took poison after she met her husband at Devam hospital, as per a report in The Indian Express.?
She was rushed to Civil Hospital in Sola, where she was declared dead in the course of treatment. She left behind the note in a book. In it, she claimed he married her "only for sexual favours" and accused him of torture for dowry. She said that her mother-in-law once pushed her down the stairs at home. ???
Her father Nanjibhai lodged a complaint against Patel and his parents under relevant sections of the IPC and Dowry Prohibition Act. Police found the note after the complaint was filed. Section 377 (unnatural sex) and 328 (causing hurt through means of poison) of the IPC were additional charges. The accused and his parents are now in custody.??
