The 22-year-old woman whose husband was arrested for "love jihad" lost her unborn baby, confirmed the ultrasound. The woman was sent off to a shelter and suffered a miscarriage whilst her husband was held under Uttar Pradesh's new anti-conversion laws based on fictitious "Love Jihad".
A local Bajrang Dal unit had reported the couple to the Police when they were on the way to get their nikaah registered.
"Her husband and brother-in-law, in jail for 13 days now, are set to be released after police didn¡¯t find any evidence to support the allegation that the woman had been forcibly converted," says a report by The Times of India.
We found that the woman had had a miscarriage. There is an infection in her uterus, which should be treated to avoid further complications," Dr PS Sisodia, who performed her ultrasound told The Times of India.
The woman alleged that she was tortured at the Nari Niketan, the shelter home where she was sent.
She claimed that she was taken to a hospital by the shelter staff where she was given an injection which induced the miscarriage.
Police have filed a report in the district court under Section 169 of the CrPC (release of accused when evidence is deficient) and requested release of her husband and brother-in-law.
