Adulteration of milk involves adding substances to the milk to increase its quantity and, in some cases, to preserve it for a longer time. Common adulterants include water, starch, detergent, urea, and synthetic milk, among others. The primary motive behind adulterating milk is to increase profits by increasing the volume of milk or extending its shelf life.
