The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has imposed a five-year suspension on top-order batsman Ihsanullah Janat after he was found guilty of engaging in corrupt activities during the Kabul Premier League.?
This decision follows Janat's violation of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, specifically Article 2.1.1, which pertains to influencing the outcome or aspects of a match.
In a statement released by the ACB, it was confirmed that "Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match." The statement further noted, "In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities." Janat has accepted the charges and acknowledged his role in the corrupt activities.
The ongoing investigation by the ACB also hints at the potential involvement of three other players, with further decisions pending confirmation of their guilt.
Ihsanullah Janat, born on December 28, 1997, in Khost, is a right-handed batsman who initially gained attention during the 2016 U19 World Cup. Despite limited opportunities to showcase his talent in the tournament, his skills earned him a First Class debut with Afghanistan against the Netherlands in the Intercontinental Cup in July 2016. His performances quickly led to an international debut.

Janat's international career began with an ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare on February 24, 2017. Although he failed to score in his 20-ball appearance, his potential was evident. He made his Test debut against Ireland on March 15, 2019, in Dehradun. In a closely contested match, Janat played a crucial innings of 65 not out, steering Afghanistan to a memorable win by chasing down a target of 147.

Aside from his international appearances, Janat has been active in domestic cricket, representing the Boost Defenders in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. Throughout his career, Janat has played 3 Tests, 16 ODIs, and one T20I for Afghanistan.
